COLLEGE UNVEILS NEW ADMISSIONS INFORMATION SESSIONS

Three Admissions Workshops Per Week During Spring Semester Will Expand Access for Prospective Students

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – Students who may be interested in enrolling at SUNY Orange will now have more opportunities than ever before to explore College’s academic degree programs and offerings thanks to a new initiative that will see the Admissions Office conduct regularly scheduled admissions group information sessions three times per week throughout the Spring semester.

These newly unveiled sessions provide a forum for prospective students to gain a full and complete understanding of the educational opportunities available at SUNY Orange, as well as the intricacies of the College’s admissions and application processes. Typically, the hour-long sessions will be slotted for 2 p.m. each Monday, 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 10 a.m. every Thursday, and will be held in the Third Floor Conference Room in the George F. Shepard Student Center, 115 South Street, Middletown.

For the convenience of students in the Newburgh area, several of the new admissions group information sessions will be conducted at the Newburgh Extension Center. The debut workshop at Newburgh is slated for 3 p.m., Feb. 22. Others will be announced in the future.

The workshops will feature presentations from members of the admissions staff and will provide students access to all necessary paperwork and forms to begin their application process. The key element of the sessions will be an open forum question-and-answer period during the latter stages of each workshop, says Michael Roe, SUNY Orange director of admissions and recruitment.

“Our goal is to provide answers to all of the questions prospective students and their parents may have. We want everyone to leave these sessions confident that they’ve learned everything they wanted to, and hopefully more, about SUNY Orange, our academic programs and the options available to them beyond their time here at the College,” Roe added.

“Instituting these group sessions allows our admissions staff to offer a more efficient and effective introduction to the College, because it assures that we present the same messages and information to every prospective student. But, because we offer 37 degree and certificate programs to a very diverse student body, these workshops will be flexible enough to allow us to address those specific and unique questions that each student may have.”
