College to Participate in Statewide SUNY Financial Aid Workshop Program Open to All Students

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – To assist current or prospective college students in organizing or initiating their financial aid application process for the 2008-09 academic year, SUNY Orange will be holding a Financial Aid Day on Saturday, Feb. 2 in the George F. Shepard Student Center. The program will begin at 10 a.m. and is open to all students throughout Orange County, not only those planning to enroll at the College.

Students must pre-register for the workshop and may do so online by clicking the “SUNY Statewide Financial Aid Days” link at http://www.suny.edu/student/event_listing/.

The SUNY Orange workshop, operated in conjunction with the State University of New York’s Statewide Student Financial Aid Days program, is offered as a service to all prospective or returning college students and their families. More than 25 campuses within the SUNY system are conducting workshops. Each campus program is designed to answer questions and provide assistance regarding the financial aid application, types of aid available and the award process.

SUNY Orange financial aid representatives will be available to provide hands-on assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is the first step in the financial aid process and is required for all financial aid applications, including New York State assistance. Copies of the FAFSA will be available. For more information about the FAFSA, visit http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/.

Participating students will need to bring a driver’s license, alien registration card (for non-United States citizens only), bank statements and investment information, social security number, completed 2007 Federal Income Tax Return (or estimated 2007 tax information), W-2 forms and other records of income earned in 2007, and any additional untaxed income information from 2007.

For more information, contact SUNY Orange’s Financial Aid Office at (845) 341-4190 or visit the College's Financial Aid web site.
