Elections Establish Leadership Structure for Governing Body

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – The SUNY Orange Student Senate has announced its 2007-08 slate of officers and senators following the recently completed annual on-campus elections.

The Senate is comprised of:

Senate Leadership
President: Joseph P. Candela II, Town of Newburgh (Liberal Arts: Math/Science and Liberal Arts: Humanities and Social Science)
Vice President: Jennifer R. Frank, Middletown (Nursing)
Secretary: Tammy Brower, Wallkill (Business Administration)
Treasurer: Justin Wood, Port Jervis (International Studies)

Senators:
Aaron Anselmo, Middletown (Engineering)
Rasan Brown,Middletown (Liberal Arts: Humanities)
James W. Griffin, Chicago, Ill. (Political Science)
Hector Leal, City of Newburgh (Math and Science)
Roget Maycock, Wallkill (Liberal Arts: Biology)
Yahaira Verdejo, Bronx (Office Technologies)

The potential exists for as many as five at-large representatives to be appointed to the Student Senate within the coming weeks. The number of at-large senators varies from year to year based upon student interest and the quantity of student applications. Senators are elected or appointed to a one-year term.
