SUNY Orange Musicians to Offer Variety of Musical Numbers

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – The Arts and Communication Department at SUNY Orange announces a spring concert by the College’s Jazz Ensemble in Orange Hall Theater at 8 p.m., Saturday, May 5.

Under the direction of Dave Miele, the ensemble features musicians Michael Fitzsimmons, alto sax; Jeremy Girsch, trombone; Josh Fraley, trumpet; Abraham Schreiber, drums; Michael Garafallo, bass; Kevin Sheamon, bass; Matthew King, guitar and piano; and guitarists Damien Jackson, Matthew King, Miles McNicholas, Andrew Santory and Christopher Wilson.

The group will perform selections from among the following numbers: “Black Orpheus” (Luiz Bonfa/Antonio Carlos Jobim), “So What” (Miles Davis), “Recordame” (Joe Henderson), “Autumn Leaves” (Johnny Mercer/Joseph Kozma/Jaques Prevert), “Bags’ Groove” (Milt Jackson), “Valse Hot” (Sonny Rollins), “Swing Spring” (Miles Davis), “Syceeda’s Song Flute” (John Coltrane), “Doxy” (Rollins), “Equinox” (Coltrane) and “Cantaloupe Island” (Herbie Hancock).

The performance is open to the general public. Admission is free but donations to support the Arts and Communication Department’s music scholarship program will gladly be accepted. For additional information, contact the Arts and Communication Department at 341-4787.

Orange Hall Theater, located in Orange Hall, is universally accessible. General parking is available in the college parking lot at the intersection of Wawayanda and Grandview avenues.
