SYMPHONIC BAND ANNOUNCES WINTER CONCERT FOR DEC. 1

Performance to Feature Songs of the Season

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – Highlighting songs of the season and covering musical celebrations of a variety of religious holidays, the SUNY Orange Symphonic Band will conduct its second performance of the fall semester at 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1 in Orange Hall Theater.

The band, comprised of students from Orange County Community College and members of the community, is under the direction of Kevin Scott. The winter concert will feature music reflecting autumn, Advent, Chanukah, Christmas and Kwanzaa.

Among the highlighted selections are Sean O’Loughlin’s “Imani,” Quincy Hilliard’s “In Praise of Autumn,” Greg Sanders’ “Coventry Variant” and Robert Longfield’s “The Bells of Christmas,” in addition to a symphonic suite of music from the TV cartoon classic “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and additional works by Leroy Anderson, Percy Grainger and Jacques Rizzo.

Admission to the concert is free, but the Arts and Communication Department will gladly accept contributions to help with an upcoming purchase of percussion equipment.

Orange Hall Theater, located in Orange Hall, is universally accessible. General parking is available in the college parking lot at the intersection of Wawayanda and Grandview avenues.
