Tours of College’s Stately Morrison Hall, Decorated for the Holidays, Available Dec. 9-10 and 16-17

Morrison Hall during a past Holiday Open HouseMIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – The splendor of Morrison Hall will once again be on display on consecutive weekends this December as SUNY Orange hosts its 12th annual Holiday Open House on Dec. 9-10 and 16-17.

Morrison Hall, the stately centerpiece of the College’s Middletown campus, 115 South Street, will be decorated for the holiday season by the Middletown Garden Lovers. Employing the theme “Holiday Celebration,” the group will decorate the first floor of Morrison Hall. The mansion will be open for free self-guided tours from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each of the four days, and volunteers will be stationed in each of the five first-floor rooms to answer questions.

Traditionally a one-weekend event, the Holiday Open House was extended to two weekends last year and the move was well-received within the community, encouraging College officials to establish a similar four-day schedule this winter.

The SUNY Orange Madrigal Singers will perform in the Music Room at 3 p.m. on Dec. 9 while the College’s Chamber Ensemble will be featured at 1 p.m. Dec. 10.

Donations will be accepted for the Peter Alberghini Inspirational Scholarship. Alberghini, a long-time SUNY Orange employee and advocate for Orange County residents through education, civic work and mental health programs, originated the Holiday Open House as a way for the local community to enjoy Morrison Hall. In addition, a limited supply of Morrison Hall replica ornaments, featuring a relief image of the mansion in brass and green enamel, will be available for sale at $25 each. Ornaments may be ordered online as well by visiting

The Holiday Open House is jointly sponsored by the Educational Foundation of SUNY Orange and the College’s Alumni Association.
