Assessment

All new students pursuing a degree at SUNY Orange are required to take the SUNY Orange administered course placement assessment. This exam assesses each student’s reading, writing and math skills, and places the student into the appropriate level classes in each of these areas. The assessment exam is given at the Newburgh Campus regularly as follows:

Wednesday @ 5:30pm AND Thursday @ 2:00pm

* Students who have already completed a college level English or Algebra course with a grade of "C" or better may be waived from this assessment.

** Additional days and times may be scheduled on an as needed basis during busy admission and registration times.

No appointment is necessary, but during the course registration periods (August and December/January) it is recommended that you arrive 30 minutes early for registration. A $25 non-refundable assessment fee must be paid prior to taking the Assessment at the Bursar Office. Upon enrollment in course(s) at SUNY Orange, this fee will be applied towards tuition charges.
