Interlibrary Loan: Books

Books that can't be found here at the SUNY Orange Library, can be borrowed via interlibrary loan. To submit an interlibrary loan request electronically, follow the instructions below:

SUNY Union Catalog

  1. Go to the SUNY Orange Library webpage at www.sunyorange.edu/lrc.
  2. Click on the Catalog link in the navigation bar on the left of the screen to view the catalog options.
  3. Click on SUNY Union Catalog to open the catalog. The SUNY Union Catalog is a catalog of all of the books in the SUNY Library system.
  4. Search for a book by typing your keywords in the text box provided, and click Search. A list of results is displayed.
  5. Click on the title of the book that you are interested in. The record for that item will be displayed.
  6. Click Request item located in the top right corner of the screen.
  7. A new window opens. Select Orange as your campus and proceed to the next screen.
  8. Sign-in to your ILLiad account.  First time users need to create an account.
  9. The request form will appear.  Check the form for accuracy, then click Submit.

ILLiad will monitor the status of your request and notify you when your item arrives at the SUNY Orange Library.

WorldCat.org

  1. Visit www.worldcat.org from a computer on campus.
  2. Search for an item.  When you’re viewing the search results, review the search limits on the left side of the screen.
  3. Select an item.  Scroll down to Services from Orange County Community Col. Click on Serials Solutions Article Linker.
  4. Look for the Order item via Interlibrary Loan link in the lower right hand corner of the screen.
  5. Sign-in to your ILLiad account.  First time users need to create an account.
  6. The request form will appear.  Check the form for accuracy, then click Submit.

ILLiad will monitor the status of your request and notify you when your item arrives at the SUNY Orange Library.

WorldCat via FirstSearch

  1. Access WorldCat via the Databases A to Z or Remote Database Access page. 
  1. Search for an item.  Use the tabs above the search results to sort items by format.
  2. Select a record and scroll down to External Resources.  Click on the Search for Article icon.
  3. Look for the Order item via Interlibrary Loan link in the lower right hand corner of the screen.
  4. Sign-in to your ILLiad account.  First time users need to create an account.
  5. The request form will appear.  Check the form for accuracy, then click Submit.
