Interlibrary Loan: Articles

Searching by subject

In the course of searching the Library's periodical databases you will find articles for which the library does not have electronic access. If the library does not subscribe to an article in electronic form, you can get a copy via interlibrary loan. To request an article follow the instructions below:

Conduct a search of one of the Library databases. Access the databases A to Z or By Subject.
When you have conducted your search and retrieved a set of results, you will be able to see whether the full-text of the article is available, and if so in either HTML or PDF format. In the example below, the first result (#2) is available in "PDF Full Text."

If full text for an article is not available -- as is the the case for second result (#3), in the example above -- the Article Linker icon or link will be displayed.
Click the Article Linker icon or link. A new window will open. If the Article Linker service can find full-text of the article in another database to which the Library subscribes, a link will be given to that other database.

If the Library does not subscribe to the article in electronic format, the "Order item via Interlibrary Loan" option will display (see example below).
Click on the link.
Sign in to ILLiad. If you haven’t used the service before, go to the First time users page.
A request form will appear with information about the item. Review it for accuracy, then click on the submit button at the bottom of the page.

Searching for a title

Check the Electronic Journals page for full text.
Check COLT for bound, microfilm, or microfiche holdings.
If citations information is not available in the databases, sign in to ILLiad. Click on New request. Copy and paste or type in the citation information and submit your request.
