The Libraries is just one location for Newburgh and Middletown campus computer labs and are open when the library is open. Group work is permitted as long as the activity does not disturb others in the library. In Middletown the front computer lab is intended for quiet indvidual use.

All campus PCs access the internet including the library's research databases, Angel classes and any other site needed. MS Office 2010 is installed with Word, Exel, Access, Powerpoint. In order to log on to the computers you need your MySUNYOrange credentials, be sure to log out completely. Ask at the front if you have any questions.

You can check out a library laptop or netbook to use in the library. You'll need your student ID to check them out (no exceptions). The computers are equipped with the same software as the library's pcs. You are able to print from the library's laptops and netbooks.

There is limited public access to computers. Guest users must show photo ID to create a guest account and agree to the SUNY Orange Computer and Network Use Policy. Guest user access may be suspended when there is a high student demand for computers.

Wireless internet access is also available throughout the library and is limited to SUNY Orange students, faculty and staff. To access sites outside the domain you need to login with your A-number and password. If you have any access issues library staff at the front desk for help you. Please report any outages so they can be addressed by ITS staff.

The ITS department established rules for using the network and computer resources. Review the policies at the Computer and Network Use Policy page.

Document Scaning

Both libraries have Scannex Scanners that are free for all to use as a copy machine. It features color or black and white scanning with an option for optical character recognition and outputs to pdf file, Word Document or jpg file. Scans of documents, books, pictures, etc. can be emailed to a preferred email account or sent to a removable drive.

In Newburgh the scanner is at the reference desk. Middletown has two scanners to the left by the entrance of the information commons.

The printers in the library can be used to print scanned documents.

Black and white printers are available in both of the Libraries. Students have a $40 print balance to start each semester. 10 cents will be deducted from the print balance for each single page printed. Printing on both sides of the page (duplex printing) costs 7 cents per page. Money can be added to print balances by purchasing additional printing from the front desk of either library.

Guest users must pay for printing by purchasing PaperCut credit.
