Print Periodical Subscriptions

The SUNY Orange Library holds dozens of subscriptions to humanities, sciences, social sciences and general interest periodicals in print and microfiche/film format. These print subscriptions are housed in the Periodical Room, which is located on the first floor of the Library.

A collection of printed indexes are also maintained and housed in Reference section. Titles such as The Reader's Guide to Periodical Literature, New York Times Index, Art Index, Humanities Index and Social Sciences Index are among those printed indexes.

Databases and Electronic Periodical Subscriptions

We currently subscribe to 67 periodical databases, which in turn allow you to access the full text of articles from hundreds of periodicals (magazines, journals, newpapers). To access lists of the databases go to Databases A to Z or Databases by Subject

Use the Electronic Search for Titles* to search for specific journals, magazines or newspapers available electronically and the databases in which they can be found.

Use the LinkSource Citation Search* to find a "known" article; that is an article that you know exists and for which you have some information (e.g. title, author, publication, etc.). The more information you can provide the greater chance of finding the article. If the SUNY Orange Library has access to an electronic version of the article, you will be provided a list of links to the online databases containing that article. If the library does not subscribe to the article in electronic form you will be given the option of requesting the article via interlibrary loan. InterLibrary Loan information can be found in MySUNYOrange under the Library Tab and the Library Services Portlet.
