Circulation and Reference

The SUNY Orange Library's Circulation and Reference collections include roughly 100,000 items. Each item is selected to support the curriculum of the college and in accordance with the collection development policy. Please contact the Library If you would like to suggest a book to be added to the the circulation or reference collection.

Reference

The Reference collection is located on the first floor of the Library. Reference include books such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, almanacs, and atlases. These items should be consulted for a quick fact (e.g. the name of a capital, a definition, a date, the amount of coffee consumed by the average American). These materials are also a good place to look when choosing or developing a topic for your research.

In addition to the print reference collection, the Library also subscribes to some electronic reference collections, for example the Gale Virtual Library and the Grolier Encyclopedia. See the Databases by Subject page, under "Reference", for a list of all of our electronic reference subscriptions.

Circulation

The Circulating collection is located on the second floor of the library. The Library is constantly adding new titles to this collection.

Keep in mind that you can also borrow books via interlibrary loan, and also find electronic versions of many books through various internet services (Google Books, Books-on-line, Bartleby.com) and also through some of the Library's online subscriptions (NetLibrary).
