Revised January 2009 for Spring Semester ATTENTION NEW STUDENTS! What are Learning Community Links? At SUNY Orange, a Learning Community Link is a select group of 20 first-time students who take three or more of the same courses together. Learning Communities Links work. Research shows that students who take part in learning communities earn higher grades, make friends faster, and graduate at higher rates than students who do not participate in learning communities. Benefits include a $160 book voucher. Who can participate? Links is offered to first-time, full-time freshmen who placed into Basic Writing Skills 2 with no developmental reading requirement. How can I register? An academic advisor will assist you with planning your course schedule and registering for Learning Community Links. Contact the Advising and Counseling Center at 341-4070 (Middletown) or 341-4502 (Newburgh) to get started.
