National Wear Red Day

Make it your mission to fight heart disease in women. Wear red on this day, then stop by the Health Services office to purchase Go Red Hearts ($1), Bracelets ($2), and pins ($5). All proceeds will benefit the American Heart Association's lifesaving educational programs and the development of new treatments to fight heart disease. We also have free information to help you or a woman you love have a healthy heart.

Red Watch Band Program - Putting an End to Toxic Drinking

Wednesday, February 29, 2pm - 5:30 pm, Newburgh
Toxic drinking is an epidemic on campuses all across America. It means consuming so much alcohol the drinker passes out. But while "sleeping it off," the victim may be quietly dying. When you come right down to it, it's a problem that only students can tackle. The Red Watch Band movement is designed to end alcohol overdose deaths by teaching students how to handle alcohol emergencies and summon professional help. Participants will also be trained and certified in the American Heart Association's Family and Friends CPR. If you want to learn more about toxic drinking, register for this program by calling Health Services at 341-4870.

The Clothesline Project:
- Increases awareness about the impact of violence in people's lives.

- Provides an avenue for women to courageously break the silence that often surrounds domestic violence.
- Celebrates a woman's strength to survive.
Women affected by violence express their emotions by decorating shirts, which are hung on a clothesline to be viewed by others as testimony to the problem of violence against women. After viewing the Project, stop by our office to see what resources we offer to halt violence against women and in the home.

Join Health Services as we promote Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Donations of full-size personal care items such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash or bar soap, and deodorant will be collected and sent to Safe Homes of Orange County. Purple cupcakes will be given to all donors and will also be available for sale with proceeds benefitting Safe Homes of Orange County. Free informational brochures will be available.

Blood Drive
For the first time, Health Services is hosting simultaneous blood drives on both campuses. Donating blood is a simple, selfless way to help your community. The Great American Smokeout
