Elise Morenon has exhibited throughout the USA plus Israel and Egypt.
She has been involved in the arts nearly all of her life. Born in Paris and raised in Boston, this daughter of two sculptors is an alumna of Northwestern University. She did graduate work at Yale Drama School and spent many years with the broader ranging theatre arts before focusing on painting and adopting watercolor as her primary medium. Elise studied extensively at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and attended the Rhode Island School of Design as well as The Fashion Institute of Technology among others. Her favorite painting coaches include artists Edgar A. Whitney, Charles Reid, Mario Cooper, and Robert E. Wood.
She is an award winning artist, demonstrator, juror and instructor. She is listed in several Who's Who editions and has paintings reproduced in both Creative Watercolor (1995) and Watercolor Expressions (1999). Elise is a member of the American Watercolor Society, Allied Artists of America, Audubon Artists, Garden State Watercolor Society, National Association of Women Artists, New Jersey Water Color Society, Philadelphia Water Color Club and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America.
Inspired by shapes, colors, textures, mood, and movement found in familiar things and images, Elise sometimes takes an organic approach to her painting but often paints in a semi-abstract, decorative style. Her work is characterized by powerful design elements, a complex palette and blends of color and texture.
The North East Watercolor Society started as the Orange County Watercolor Society nearly forty years ago, and has grown to an International organization with members not only from all of the fifty United States plus Canada, but many other countries. The Society sponsors two workshops given by nationally known artists, two demonstrations at shows and a national juried/judged show.
