Photo: Ronald Rand as Harold ClurmanHarold Clurman grew up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and through his life experiences with the vitality of the Yiddish Theater, his roommate and cousin Composer Aaron Copland while attending the Sorbonne, his time with the Provincetown Players, and his association with Actor/Director/Teacher Lee Strasberg came to formulate his vision of a new American theater. Alongwith Strasberg, and Actress/Director Cheryl Crawford, he formed the Group Theatre through which a performance method and directing style were developed that set the standard and promoted his belief that the American theater was on the same artistic peer as theatre in Moscow and European capital cities.

Ronald Rand began as a child actor, appearing in 250 plays.  His adult acting career has been varied as he has performed in Off-Broadway plays, in films, and on television. He studied with both Stella Adler and Harold Clurman, and he has attended New York University School of the Arts and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London.
