Program
The program is for anyone interested in a career
in the criminal justice and related fields.
Employment Opportunities in Criminal Justice
Employment opportunities in criminal justice are excellent throughout
New York State and the country. Many of the Orange County Community
College graduates are now working at the Federal, State, and local
levels of law enforcement in Orange County and other parts of the
United States.
Starting salaries range from $25,000 to more than $40,000 a year,
with maximum salaries exceeding $75,000 after 3-5 years for police
officers. Promotional opportunities are excellent, with commensurate
salary increases. Many of the Orange County Police Chiefs, high
ranking members of the New York State Police and New York City
Police are graduates of our Criminal Justice Program.
Employment in the Hudson Valley is excellent for the Criminal
Justice graduates: there are about 280 jobs available per year.
Retirement systems range between 20-25 years of service. Other
benefits include generous vacations, sick leave, uniform allowances,
differential pay for nightshifts, holiday pay, etc.
