How to Read Your Evaluation General Requirements/Detail Requirements Catalog Term: The semester in which you matriculated to the College Evaluation Term: Evaluation includes all courses registered through this semester Expected Graduation Date: This is a generic, not actual, date *Total Required: Number of credits required by the degree for graduation *Required Institutional: 30 credits earned at SUNY Orange required to graduate with a degree *Overall GPA: Minimum of a 2.0 is needed to graduate with a degree Transfer: Number of credits transferred from another source In Progress: Credits currently registered for Unused: This can include courses that you did not receive credit for (withdrawals, failures, repeats, developmental) or that are not applicable toward your degree requirements. *Note: A “Yes” under the “Met” column in each of these areas generally indicates completion of requirements for graduation. General Requirements Area: Specific academic requirement for degree, number of credits required and whether the requirement has been “met.” Example: Area: Core Fr English Requirement (6.0 credits) - Met 3.0 B- 200790- ENG 101 Freshman English 1 3.0 * 200810 - ENG 102 Freshman English 2 6.0 Credits 3.0 GPA The above information indicates the number of credits (3.0) for each course, the grade received (* indicates in-progress), the semester in which the course was taken (the first four numbers indicate year, the fifth number indicates month), and the course number and name. The last line indicates that 6 credits were completed (in-progress courses are temporarily counted as completed) and the GPA of all successfully completed courses within this Area requirement. Detail Requirements Detail Requirements add information to the General Requirements described above indicating how to meet specific area requirements. Snapshot Example: Area: Speech Requirement (3.0 credits) - Met Met Cond. Rule Subj. Attrib. Low Yes ( COM 101 No )OR( COM 101H It’s a little tricky at first to decipher, but the best way to read this is to cover the “Met” column and ignore the parenthesis for now. The information would then read that you must take COM 101 or COM 101H (this is the honors version of the same course) to meet the Speech Requirement. Next look at the “Met” column to see if one of the options says “Yes” the requirement has been met. Here’s one that’s a little bit tougher... Snapshot Example: Area: Liberal Arts AA SS Cat B & C (6.0 credits) - Met Met Cond. Rule Subj. Attrib. Low High Req’d Term Subj. Course Title Attrb. Credits Yes ( PSY 101 220 3.0 200490 25 111 Gen Psych I Yes AND CATC 3.0 200590 26 110 Social CATC Problems No )OR( ANT 101 103 3.0 No AND CATB 3.0 No )OR( SOC 101 120 3.0 No AND CATB 3.0 ) Again, cover the “Met” column and ignore the parenthesis for now. This would now read that you must take a: PSY (psychology) course numbered between 101 and 220 and a course from Category C or an ANT (anthropology) course numbered between 101 and 103 and a Category B or a SOC (sociology) course numbered between 101 and 120 and a Category B. You can now see in the “Met” column that “Yes” a PSY and a CAT C course was taken and the area requirement has been fulfilled. Also note under “Subject” and “Course” that the course number at the time the course was taken is listed. In this case, in Fall 2004 the course number for Psychology I was 25111 (it is now PSY 101).
