Steps to Academic Advising and Registration
Currently Enrolled Students
Fall 2008 Registration
SUNY Orange recognizes academic advising is a shared responsibility and vital to a student's ability to meet their academic and career goals.
Your Role in the Academic Advising and Registration Processes:
Step 1. Understand your degree requirements (resources). Create a time line of courses you plan to take and when you would like to graduate. Familiarize yourself with any prerequisites and/or courses that are only offered in the fall or spring.
Step 2. Plan early! The fall schedule of classes is available online (resources). Make an appointment at this time to meet with a faculty advisor from your department (advisor listing) to discuss your academic plans. Note: Office hours are limited and you may have difficulty meeting with an advisor if you wait too long.
Or
If you are a Pre-Nursing, Pre-Rad Tech, Criminal Justice, or Education major you are encouraged to attend a small group advising session (link to workshops).
Step 3. Arrive on time to your appointment. Bring a copy of your transcript (resources) (failure to do so could prevent your advisor from approving your study plan). Come prepared with a list of courses you would like to take and any questions you may have concerning degree requirements and educational/career goals.
Step 4. Take advantage of priority registration. If you are eligible to register online follow the attached instructions(Online Instructions (PDF) (Plain Text)). If you do not meet the criteria at this point, bring your advisor-approved registration card to Records and Registration. Note: All holds must be cleared prior to registering for your classes.
Monday, April 14- 8am in person and online, registration begins for currently enrolled students with 30 or more credits completed and accepted Allied Health majors.
