N9640 - Working Competently as a Translator/Interpreter (English-to-Spanish)

Participants must be fluent in both English and Spanish. This course is designed to help bilingual individuals who are usually asked to "translate" become competent interpreters so they can efficiently meet the needs of the offices, schools, hospitals, and organizations they work for. Some government-funded organizations are now being required to provide qualified/trained interpreters, so get the edge to find, keep or move up on a job! The topics covered include: interpreter's professional standards; translation vs. interpretation skills; use of dictionaries; glossaries and online resources; modes of interpretation; and practical exercises. 8 sessions
