The BATCAVERN

(Biology and Allied Technologies Center for Audio-Visual Education/Registered Nurse)

Middletown Campus: (BATCAVERN) Bio-Tech 155

Newburgh Campus: (BATCAVERN II) Kaplan Hall, Room 230, Learning Center

Affectionately called the BATCAVERN, the lab at the Middletown Campus was started for the mutual benefit of students and instructors. Learning tools include computers, VCR's, models, Internet stations, and research and reference materials.

A new lab is also available at the Newburgh Campus in Kaplan Hall.

Photo of anatomy modelStudents meet in a quiet, congenial atmosphere. They are free to work in pairs, groups, or independently. They are encouraged to get to know each other. It is a place the A students and the D students work together, learning much from each other. Over the years it has taken on a life of its own: One For All and All For One.

There are very few rules, and the students enforce them.

Lab personnel have degrees in biology and/or health sciences. They can answer most questions, and for those they can't answer there is extensive research and reference materials available to solve the problem. There is an open dialogue with each instructor for suggestions and approaches that will work best for his or her students.

The two labs are friendly and low-key, where the student knows he/she is listened to and helped.
