How to Access Banner

Banner will give you access to your student information which includes personal, financial and academic information (grades, online class schedule, transcript, etc.). Your student information is available online and from any computer with an Internet connection. To access Banner Self Service, you need to first log in to MYSUNYORANGE. Once you log in, you can access your Banner and SUNY Orange e-mail accounts.

Use Banner to:

  1. Find your Assigned Academic Advisor
  2. View your Academic Transcript
  3. View the Online Semester Schedule of Classes
  4. Run a Degree Evaluation
  5. Check Holds
  6. Register for Classes Online

1. Find Your Assigned Academic Advisor

All students pursuing a degree are assigned an Academic Advisor during their first semester at the College. Students must meet with their Advisor to discuss their educational goals, plan their studies and discuss courses to take each semester. To view your Advisor information go to the College web site and log in to MYSUNYORANGE:

  1. Click the Banner box
  2. Click on Student and Financial Aid
  3. Click Student Records
  4. Click View Student Information

Your assigned Advisor's name shows under "Primary Advisor". Once you know who your Advisor is, you should plan to schedule an appointment. Click here to find your Advisor contact information and location or stop by the Academic Advising Office for more information.

2. View your Academic Transcript

Your transcript provides information about what courses you have taken at SUNY Orange (or transferred), the grades you earned and your GPA. You can print an unofficial copy of your transcript in Banner. Go to the College web site and log in to MYSUNYORANGE:

  1. Click the Banner box
  2. Click on Student and Financial Aid
  3. Click Student Records
  4. Click Academic Transcript

To prepare for your advising session, use your program sheet from the online College Catalog or available at the Academic Advising Office and check off current and completed courses showing on your transcript.

3. View the Online Semester Schedule of Classes

The online semester schedule of classes is made available to students every semester before Registration opens. This is the best way to view available and remaining seats in any class in real time. Review the online schedule of classes to put together a preliminary schedule before meeting with your Advisor. Go to the College web site and log in to MYSUNYORANGE:

  1. Click the Banner box
  2. Click on Student Tab (on top of page)
  3. Click Registration
  4. Click Look Up Classes
  5. Select a semester
  6. Select Subject Area (Accounting, Business, Criminal Justice, etc.)
  7. Select Course Number (refer to your program sheet in the online College Catalog or available at the Academic Advising Office for required courses and course numbers)
  8. Click Class Search

You may also search by Session and select a specific campus, satellite location, day or evening class or search by Instructor or by Attribute Type.

4. Run a Degree Evaluation

The Degree Evaluation report is available in Banner and it is a great tool to use to keep track of your degree requirements.

The Degree Evaluation report lists the different academic areas required in your program, number of credits and courses required in each category, and whether these areas have been completed or are remaining.

Please note the Evaluation report must be used along with your program sheet located in the online College Catalog or available at the Academic Advising Office. Any discrepancies in your degree evaluation should be brought to the attention of the Academic Advising Office or Records and Registration.

5. Check Holds

Holds prevent you from registering for classes or viewing your student information. To see if you have any holds go to the College web site and log in to MYSUNYORANGE:

  1. Click the Banner box
  2. Click on Student and Financial Aid link
  3. Click Student Account
  4. Click View Holds

6. Register for Classes Online

You can register for classes online using Banner. To be eligible to register for classes online students need to have completed any required writing/ reading developmental classes and have completed at least one semester at SUNY Orange. Also, students need a PIN#, which is provided by your Advisor after discussing your courses.
