Application Deadlines

  • Permanent residents and others holding immigrant status: August 21 for Fall semester; January 11 for Spring semester (see below for Health Career program deadlines). International applicants with non-immigrant status: June 1 for the Fall semester beginning in late August; October 1 for the Spring semester beginning in January.

We are pleased that you are considering submitting an application to SUNY Orange. Please read the following instructions before completing your on-line application. Once you have completed reviewing the instructions, there will be a link at the bottom of this page for you to begin your SUNY Orange application. If you prefer, you may download a print version (PDF) of this application and mail it by conventional means.

1. Apply - Send completed application on-line and non-refundable $30.00 fee ($20.00 for readmitted students). Once you complete the application, please print out the payment page and mail or submit a check to the Admissions Office. Secure credit card payments and cash are accepted in person at the Bursar's Office only. We strongly encourage students to apply in person if the beginning of the semester is less than three weeks away. This will expedite the application process and provide a greater opportunity for successful course registration.

2. Official high school transcripts and/or high school equivalency diploma - It is required that all applicants present an official high school transcript (an official transcript must bear the school seal and be mailed directly from the school to the college) or a notarized copy of the original and official GED diploma. Official copies of GED diplomas and scores may be obtained from the University of the State of New York, State Education Dept., Bureau of High and Professional Testing, Albany, NY, 12224.

To facilitate requesting your high school transcript, you may download the following High School Transcript Release Form (PDF) High School Transcript Release Form (TXT) which you must fill out, sign and mail to your high school. Those of you who did not go to school locally may wish to call your high school first to ascertain if a fee is required.

Financial Aid cannot be awarded until we have proof of high school graduation (high school transcript or GED and scores) as per Federal regulations.

An acknowledgment will be sent by us to you when your transcript is received.

International Students and others whose secondary school records may not be in English must have all records translated into English by an official translation agency or national consulate. 3. Transfer students follow the same application process described for first-time students. Applicants for transfer, including applicants for readmission, must submit official transcripts from all institutions previously attended for use in transferring credits, granting Assessment Waivers, awarding financial aid and evaluating the Health Professions applications. Financial Aid transcripts must be sent if applying for Financial Aid.

4. Financial Aid applicants should contact their high school guidance office or our Financial Aid office for applicant information. Although giving your Social Security Number is optional, you are urged to submit it if you are applying for financial aid as it is required for processing.

5. Choosing a Major or Area of Academic Interest - You may select only one program of academic interest on your application.

6. Recommended deadlines - August 21, Fall semester; January 11, Spring semester; May 25, Summer session I; July 6, Summer session II. (This does not apply to the Health Professions programs. Speak to an Admissions Counselor for specific deadlines.)

7. Your responses to the referenced questions in the application are strictly voluntary. In the event you choose to answer these questions Orange County Community College will keep your answers confidential and will not use the information provided in a discriminatory manner. Failure to respond to these questions will not subject you to any adverse treatment. The college seeks to enroll students of diverse racial and ethnic heritage and students with disabilities.

Special Program Notes

College Experience Program - High School juniors or seniors who wish to take college courses while they are still in high school should call 845-341-4030 and request a College Experience Program application.

Health Professions- Applicants are advised to refer to special instructions. Health Professions at Orange include Dental Hygiene, Medical Laboratory Technology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, and Radiologic Technology.

Honors Program - Applicants please follow the application instructions plus the special instructions. Application deadlines: Spring semester - December 1; Fall semester - May 1.

Multiple degree applicants may earn additional degrees at SUNY Orange when the following conditions are met: 1) the areas in which the degrees are earned are determined to be separate and distinct by relevant department chairpersons and approved by the Vice President for Academic Affairs; 2) a minimum of 15 credits not required nor applied to the first degree are completed at Orange. A student may earn multiple A.S. degrees, or multiple A.A.S. degrees, or an A.A. and A.S. Only one A.A. degree may be awarded. General education courses with a grade of D or better from the first degree apply to the second degree when applicable.

Non-High School graduates (no G.E.D.) - SUNY Orange offers non-high school graduates a chance to earn their GED through the 24-Credit Hour Program. You may call us at 845-341-4030 for a 24-Credit Hour application.

Special Instructions - International and Non-Citizen Applicants

Please follow the general instructions for completing and filling out your application.

In addition, we ask that you read the instructions below and follow those that pertain to you.

  • Applicants, permanent residents and others who have immigrant status holding high school diplomas from foreign countries must file original records of their high school credentials, including mark sheets. These records may be mailed or brought in person-ally. If the original records are not from an English-speaking country, the records must be translated into English by either your National Consulate or an official translating agency. No personal translations will be accepted. Those applicants who attended high school in a foreign country should not send their application to their high school.
  • Applicants who wish to transfer credits earned in institutions of higher learning abroad must file original records that meet the same requirements as explained above.
  • All international applicants who have non-immigrant status (i.e., visitor, student visas) must present themselves, by appointment, at the Admissions Office for a special application packet. Those applicants in this non-immigrant group who are not residing in the United States at this time must contact the Office of Admissions, Orange County Community College, 115 South Street, Middletown, New York, 10940, to obtain a special application packet.
